History
Alice came to Wild Spirit on May 23rd, 2006, with her five siblings: Sabine, Powder, Sugar, Thunder, and Storm. Her parents, Yukon and Sierra, and older brother, Axel, joined her in early March of 2007. Sierra came to the Sanctuary pregnant, and so, on May 8th, 2007, Alice's family was expanded by the birth of five pups: Frost, Flurry, Teton, Shasta, and Trinity. The Arctic family came from a breeder in Oregon, after the Sanctuary had sought out one or two pups to be raised as ambassadors. A friend told us that there was a breeder in Jacksonville, Oregon who may be willing to donate two pups of a recently born litter. A few days before Leyton, Georgia, and 4-year-old Lakota hopped into the car to pick up the pups, the breeder told us to plan on taking all six, as his previous buyers had decided not to purchase the pups. Excited to have the whole litter, the Cougar family picked up the pups and bottle-fed them the whole way back to New Mexico. Alice was bottle-raised at Wild Spirit. She spent her younger days living with Angel in her trailer until she was old enough to move outside.
How Can I Help Alice?
It takes fifteen sponsors to provide the basic care for each of our wolves and wolf-dogs for an entire year. This does not include the cost of medication, vet visits, enclosures repairs, or enrichment treats.
Profile
Bio: Alice is an Arctic wolf mixed with a little bit of Timber wolf. Alice has five other littermates living at the Sanctuary: Powder, Sabine, Storm, Sugar, and Thunder. Both of her parents passed away - her mother, Sierra, when Alice was a year old, and her father, Yukon, a little over two years later. Alice also has her older brother, Axel, and her younger siblings (Flurry, Shasta, and Teton) living at the Sanctuary as well. One of her younger siblings, Trinity, passed away when Alice was 2 1/2 years old, and Frost passed away when Alice was almost four years old.
Living Arrangements: Alice lives with her brother, Thunder, and one of the Timber pups, Forest.
Am I On the Tour Path? "Yes, and I tend to lie by a tree in the front of the enclosure, although I sometimes sleep in the back with my brother."
Personality: Alice is a very sweet and loving girl to people she knows and trusts. However, around strangers, she becomes a bit more apprehensive. In the past, she has had dominance issues around strange women in her enclosure. Luckily, it appears she is calming down as she is maturing. Overall, she is very playful and cuddly, and swoons whenever Forest is around.
Likes: Butt scratches, outsmarting her caretaker and stealing the waste bucket, and Forest!
Dislikes: Strange women in her enclosure, rough-housing, and Forest going to an outreach event.
Fun Fact: A taste for soda must run in the family. Alice absolutely loves Diet Coke. It anyone left a bottle of Diet Coke out, Alice would steal it to scent-roll and lap of the excess. Hey, a girl must watch her figure!
My Wishlist: "Although I love to perch atop our wooden house, it is getting old and has definitely seen better days. How cool would it be if we could get a cave house built in our enclosure?"
