Bono

History

On October 13th, 2010, sixty-eight New Guinea Singing Dogs were found being illegally kept at a kennel in Pennsylvania. The kennel was allowed to keep ten of the animals while the rest were brought to rescue facilities. Many went to Arizona where they stayed for a few months. Unfortunately, the owner of the rescue decided that she couldn't care for so many animals, due to medical concerns with her son. She asked if we could take five of the animals. The owner's mother drove them out to the Sanctuary.

How Can I Help Bono?

Animal Sponsorships

It takes fifteen sponsors to provide the basic care for each of our wolves and wolf-dogs for an entire year. This does not include the cost of medication, vet visits, enclosures repairs, or enrichment treats.

Quarterly Enrichment
Every three months we give each of our animals an exciting enrichment treat. Not only does it help to mentally and physically stimulate the wolves and wolf-dogs, but it also goes to support them for the rest of the quarter.

Profile

Bio: Bono is a New Guinea Singing dog.
Living Arrangements: Bono lives with two other New Guineas, Bowie and Foxy.
Am I On the Tour Path? "No, I live at the back of the Sanctuary. However, if you are a sponsor of mine and would like to say hello, ask someone in the office if you can come up for a visit."
Personality: Bono is the friendliest of the New Guineas. He will immediately jump into his caretaker's lap and beg for attention. He thoroughly enjoys playing with Bowie, one of the other Guineas, and the two are often seen wrestling around the enclosure.
Likes: Getting his ears scratched, playing with Bowie, and feeding time.
Dislikes: Being ignored
Fun Fact: Poor Bono was diagnosed with coccidioidomycosis, a fungal infection that appears when an animal breathes in fungal spores. He most likely became infected while he was living in Arizona. He is currently taking medication to combat the infection, and we all hope he will fully recover.
My Wishlist: "I need anti-fungal mediction to combat my fungal infection. Any donations to help with the cost would be great!"
