Princess

History

On October 13th, 2010, sixty-eight New Guinea Singing Dogs were found being illegally kept at a kennel in Pennsylvania. The kennel was allowed to keep ten of the animals while the rest were brought to rescue facilities. Many went to Arizona where they stayed for a few months. Unfortunately, the owner of the rescue decided that she couldn't care for so many animals, due to medical concerns with her son. She asked if we could take five of the animals. The owner's mother drove them out to the Sanctuary.

How Can I Help Princess?

Animal Sponsorships

It takes fifteen sponsors to provide the basic care for each of our wolves and wolf-dogs for an entire year. This does not include the cost of medication, vet visits, enclosures repairs, or enrichment treats.

Quarterly Enrichment
Every three months we give each of our animals an exciting enrichment treat. Not only does it help to mentally and physically stimulate the wolves and wolf-dogs, but it also goes to support them for the rest of the quarter.

Profile

Bio: Princess is a New Guinea Singing dog.
Living Arrangements: Princess lives with another New Guinea, Reba.
Am I On the Tour Path? "I am temporarily living in the boarding enclosure down front (and on the tour path)."
Personality: Princess is certainly the runt of the group. She was the first to be exiled by Foxy, followed shortly by Reba being forced to disperse, too. Princess is slightly timid at times but quickly warms up to caretakers in her enclosure. Once comfortable, she is extremely affectionate.
Likes: Playing with Reba, caretakers coming in to visit.
Dislikes: Foxy, being picked on.
Fun Fact: Due to being picked on by Foxy, Princess spent some time in our animal care office. While volunteers were sitting at the picnic tables, they could hear poor Princess howling from the office. For such a little girl, she has quite the set of lungs on her!
My Wishlist: "I've heard that the people at the Sanctuary plan to build a New Guinea Singing Dog enclosure for us next year. I'm sure they could use some financial help for this project."
