History
Sometime in late October, we received word of five high-content wolf-dogs in a desperate situation in Washington State. Their owner, who had been breeding and selling wolf-dogs, had been given a court-appointed guardian who sought help in placing the animals. After their owner was taken to a rehab facility, the animals were left unattended on the property with only a part time caretaker visiting for feeding a few days a week. Within days of being left alone on the property, all five escaped their poorly constructed enclosures. Angel traveled to Washington and met up with Brennan to see if they could reclaim the five animals and bring them to Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. Out of the five, only Silva was recaptured, despite our best efforts. It is assumed that the remaining four were killed. Silva arrived safely at the Sanctuary after a long flight to New Mexico.
How Can I Help Silva?
It takes fifteen sponsors to provide the basic care for each of our wolves and wolf-dogs for an entire year. This does not include the cost of medication, vet visits, enclosures repairs, or enrichment treats.
Profile
Bio: Silva is a high-content wolf-dog.
Living Arrangements: Silva currently lives with Jaeger
Am I On the Tour Path? "Yes, but for right now, I am still extremely skittish of tours. I don't come down, and the tour guides will usually hurry people past the enclosure for my comfort."
Personality: Silva is one of our shyest animals at the Sanctuary, although luckily, she is warming up quickly. She is becoming comfortable around people and has approached a few of her caretakers. She is the boss of Jaeger, and often likes to fence-fight with her neighbor, Maki, but flirt with her other neighbor, Nikki. She has a playful side that she is beginning to develop.
Likes: Hot dogs, being left alone, and investigating where her caretaker has walked.
Dislikes: People inside her enclosure, large tours, and sudden movements.
Fun Fact: Silva had her leg amputated when she was just a puppy. Stories conflict on what exactly happened, but it seems that she was born with a club foot. The veterinarian amputated it to spare her future problems.
My Wishlist: "Only having three legs causes much stress on my body when I walk around. I heard that Joint Discovery may prevent against future joint problems. Could someone send me a bottle? Pretty please?"
