Skye

History

Skye was rescued from an inadequate home in Oregon where she was living in squalor. A kind-hearted lady picked her up and brought her to Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in May of 2000. As a pup, Skye was placed with a beautiful wolf, Nayati. Even as an adult, Skye is just as rambunctious and playful as ever. She tortured Nayati with her antics for many years, and when he passed away, we decided to give Skye a taste of her own medicine by grouping her with two very high-energy Timber yearlings! Her time with Brutus and Sassy has calmed her a bit toward humans but she is still quite the handful.

How Can I Help Skye?

Animal Sponsorships

It takes fifteen sponsors to provide the basic care for each of our wolves and wolf-dogs for an entire year. This does not include the cost of medication, vet visits, enclosures repairs, or enrichment treats.

Quarterly Enrichment
Every three months we give each of our animals an exciting enrichment treat. Not only does it help to mentally and physically stimulate the wolves and wolf-dogs, but it also goes to support them for the rest of the quarter.

Profile

Bio: Skye is a mid-content wolf-dog.
Living Arrangements: Skye lives with a Timber wolf, Brutus.
Am I On the Tour Path? "Yes, and I usually approach the fence when tours walk by, especially if there are treats to be had!"
Personality: Skye is extremely rambunctious, energetic, playful, and mischievous. She loves to play rough, fast and often! She is well known for stealing bandanas, hats, radios, and anything else hanging loose on a caretaker. She tries to remind Brutus that she too was once his age, and often pushes him around.
Likes: Playing tag, going for walks, and fence-fighting with neighbors.
Dislikes: Her companion going for a walk without her, neighbors getting attention, and rules and discipline.
Fun Fact: Skye might possibly be one of the smartest animals at the Sanctuary, and it is almost a ritual for a caretaker to be outsmarted by this wily girl. Skye deduced that if she gets into the sub-enclosure, she'll get to go on a walk. How could she possibly get into the sub-enclosure? Why, by pulling on her caretaker's leg when they try to exit her enclosure! They let go of the gate to get her off, and she can slip right in! Good thing her enclosure has two gates!
My Wishlist: "I love to play with anything and everything! I heard of these great Boomer Balls with slots so treats can slip out when you knock it around. Please get that for me! Oh, and tiny tasty treats, of course!"
