History
Storm came to Wild Spirit on May 23rd, 2006, with his five siblings: Alice, Powder, Sugar, Sabine, and Thunder. His parents (Yukon and Sierra) and older brother, Axel, joined him in early March of 2007. Sierra came to the Sanctuary pregnant, and so, on May 8th, 2007, Storm's family was expanded by the birth of five pups: Frost, Flurry, Teton, Shasta, and Trinity. The Arctic family came from a breeder in Oregon, after the Sanctuary had sought out one or two pups to be raised as ambassadors. A friend told us that there was a breeder in Jacksonville, Oregon who may be willing to donate two pups of a recently born litter. A few days before Leyton, Georgia, and 4-year-old Lakota hopped into the car to pick up the pups, the breeder told us to plan on taking all six, as his previous buyers had decided not to purchase the pups. Excited to have the whole litter, the Cougar family picked up the pups and bottle-fed them the whole way back to New Mexico. Storm was bottle-raised at Wild Spirit. Out of all the humans in his life, Storm formed a special attachment to 4-year-old Lakota and begged the Cougars to go home with them at night. He was the most gregarious and social out of the pups, and every now and then, he will go out in the public as an ambassador.
How Can I help Storm?
It takes seventeen sponsors (paw prints) to provide the basic care for each of our wolves and wolf-dogs for an entire year. This does not include the cost of medication, vet visits, enclosures repairs, or enrichment treats.
Profile
Bio: Storm is an Arctic wolf mixed with a little bit of Timber wolf. Storm has five other littermates living at the Sanctuary: Alice, Powder, Sugar, Sabine, and Thunder. Both of his parents passed away - his mother, Sierra, when Storm was a year old, and his father, Yukon, a little over two years later. Storm also has his older brother, Axel, and his younger siblings (Teton, Shasta, and Flurry) living at the Sanctuary as well. One of his younger siblings, Trinity, passed away when he was 2 1/2 years old, and Frost passed away when Storm was almost four years old.
Living Arrangements: Storm lives with one of the Timber pups, Savannah.
Am I On the Tour Path? "Yes, and I usually lie near the front of the enclosure or in my cave house, making for a great photo opportunity!"
Personality: Storm is still one of the most affectionate pups from the litter. Although he can be rough when he plays, he mostly is very gentle around his caretaker and volunteers. He absolutely adores the water and loves to splash in the pond inside his enclosure. Even on walks, if Storm comes across a mud puddle, he has to jump right in and roll around!
Likes: Playing in his pond, belly rubs, and his girlfriend Savannah.
Dislikes: Big hats, his pond not filled or cleaned, and strange women.
Fun Fact: All of our pups when they first came to our Sanctuary had tentative names. Storm's temporary name? Spot, because when Storm was younger, he was spotted! While everyone else had a gray coat with only a few white markings on paws or tail, Storm's body was covered with a lot more white. When he grew older, he became white completely with no signs of his spotted coat from before.
My Wishlist: "Tour guests seem so tired when they finally reach my enclosure. I feel so bad! If we had a bench in front of my enclosure, people could sit down when they hear about me."
