| Mr. Shyloh came to our sanctuary in 1995, from Los Alamos in New Mexico. He was originally owned by a man who felt that wolf dogs have a wild spirit and should run free. While on an adventure with his owner, Mr. Shyloh encountered a group of boys on bicycles, who began to cruelly chase him and shot him with a pellet gun. To defend himself, Mr. Shyloh knocked one of the boys off their bike, and the parents called animal control. To save him, Mr. Shyloh was brought here in the middle of the night, where he has remained ever since. |

Mr. Shyloh was a spoiled old man who was use to getting his way. If he was not fed first by his caretaker, they would certainly know he was not happy. Mr. Shyloh was known famously for his howls and moans that almost sounded as if he was saying "I love you". Mr. Shyloh was also notorious for his "bites", which he gave to every new volunteer that entered his enclosure, an initation of a sort. He loved to be rubbed all over his body, and he would usually bury his head in your lap while you did so. He lived with his mate of many years, Nakona, and the two got along great. Mr. Shyloh would sometimes be jealous of Nakona if she got too much attention, and his caretaker would usually be nipped for it. Mr. Shyloh began going down hill for several years, and finally lost control of his back legs one morning. We waited to see if his condition would improve, but upon seeing that it wouldn't, euthanized him.
Mr. Shyloh was a possible very low-content wolf dog; probably a pure dog with malamute. He passed away at age fifteen. |
