| Napi was one of six cubs born at breeding facility. The breeder realized he could not take care of the new cubs, and gave all six to us when they were four-weeks old. The cubs were rotated between the staff members at the sanctuary to get them used to different situations, people, and animals. When the cubs were three-months old, four of the cubs were found homes and adopted out; Napi and his brother Nevar stayed at the sanctuary. |

Napi was a shy, gentle man who usually preferred to keep to himself. He was both very wolfy in appearance and behavior, which explained his nervousness. In very rare occasions, he might have come up to his caretaker for a pet, but would stand far away enough for the caretaker to just reach him. Ideally, he just liked to sit contently and watch the world go by. Napi often could be found in one of the many dens he had dug in his enclosure, but he was usually hard to find. If a caretaker visited his neighbor's enclosure, Napi would sometimes howl to show his displeasure. Napi lived with his mate, Shunka, and the two were usually found lying in the back of their enclosure. The days before his death, he was cited to be acting slightly odd, but nothing serious enough to suspect illness of any sort. He was found dead during morning chores after a hard night's freeze.
Napi was a high-content wolf dog with Black Phased Timber wolf. He passed away at age thirteen. |
