Zeus was one of the seven babies born from Ammon Ra and Nashoba, and raised at the Sanctuary with his siblings Shakti, Taza, Lycea, Ghengis Khan, Selena, and Chaka Zulu. When younger, the cubs lived indoors; however, they moved outdoors when they were four months old, old enough to be in an enclosure. For a while, Zeus was our ambassador animal, but after maturity, he decided that he would rather stay at home. Zeus was an alpha, and kicked out Ghengis Khan when he tried to show his dominance. Because of his dominant personality, Zeus was moved to an enclosure with his sister, Shakti. |

Zeus was a beautiful, forceful animal with an intense look. However, looks can be deceiving; he was actually sweet and affectionate towards people. He was curious towards new things, and knew how to be gentle around his fragile caretakers. His favorite spot to be scratched was on his back right above his tail. When curiosity got the better of him, Zeus would investigate and sometimes claim his caretaker's poop bucket. He was still a wolf, however, and considered some actions like bending over him or covering his face as aggressive, so his caretaker always needed to be careful. Zeus lived with his sister, Shakti, and the two had a great sibling relationship. Many times, Zeus would "protect" Shakti when she fence fought with Cove, and he would come to her rescue if she was losing the battle. Unfortunately, no animal lives forever. Zeus began to show signs of decline as he grew older, finally peaking one day when he could not stand up any more. The next morning, he passed away. We will miss him greatly.
Zeus was a Timber wolf. He passed away at age eleven. |
