While we know we are no substitute for real parents, it has been another blessing for us to be able to raise two more wolf pups! At two weeks of age, they were removed from their parents in an effort to be socialized towards humans. They spent their first couple of weeks living in the animal care office and were watched by volunteers twenty-four/seven. At night, they would go home with either our director, Leyton, or one of our staff members, Angel. Sometimes, a volunteer would spend the night in the animal care office with the two pups. As they grew older, they were moved to an outdoor enclosure by the main office during the daytime, and would still return to a residence at night. Both Frost and Flurry went through several name changes. Frost's temp name was Leyton Jr., the result of a joke the volunteers came up with aimed at the director. His real name changed to Frost a few weeks later. Flurry's temp name was Scout Master Tim, and was called Scout for short. Everyone liked the name enough that he was officially named Scout, and was even announced in the newsletter under it. However, it turned out that some of our staff members disliked the name and decided to change his name to Flurry. Frost and Flurry have siblings (Teton, Shasta, and Trinity) living with their parents, Sierra and Yukon. They also have their older brothers and sisters, Storm, Alice, Thunder, Powder, Sugar, and Sabine living at the Sanctuary as well!
Frost and Flurry are Arctic wolves. |
| Frost is cuddly man who loves to spend the night on someone's lap. He is slightly more affectionate than his brother, Flurry. Frost has been to a couple of outreach events already with his big brother, Storm, who is beginning to teach him the ropes. Although outgoing, Frost is slightly shier than Flurry, but at this age, can change very quickly. |

Flurry is a feisty boy who can be a handful at times! He spends most of his waking moments playing and getting into mischief. Besides humans, Flurry gets along well with his two doggy baby-sitters, Nana the St. Bernard and Brody the Labrador, and likes to mimic what the big canines do. Flurry just began to go to outreach events, and seems to like the spotlight as much as his brother, Frost. |
