History
Frost was born on-site, after his mother Sierra come to the Sanctuary already impregnated. In 2006, Frost's six older siblings Alice, Powder, Sabine, Sugar, Storm, and Thunder come from a breeder in Oregon. When they were picked up, arrangements were made to accept the parents, Sierra and Yukon, as well. It wasn't until March of 2007 that Angel and Leyton were able to make the trek to pick up the parents, as well as older brother, Axel. While Yukon and Axel were neutered before ever setting foot on Sanctuary property, Sierra had already become impregnated, and so that May, she gave birth to a litter of five beautiful Arctic pups: Frost, Flurry, Teton, Shasta, and Trinity. Frost and his brother, Flurry, were pulled at 14 days and bottle-raised by the staff of WSWS. Trinity, Shasta, and Teton were left to be raised by mom and dad. Frost and Flurry were raised by the staff and volunteers at Wild Spirit, and spent most of their young life in our Animal Care office being baby-sat by the various volunteers. When they were old enough, they moved to an enclosure outdoors.

Rest in Peace
May 8, 2007 - February 7, 2010
Frost's caretaker, Brennan, noticed when he went into his enclosure one morning that Frost was acting a little off. When he walked, he had a slight stiffness to his back legs and seemed more lethargic that usual. A staff member was called into his enclosure to have a look, and after examining Frost for any noticeable injuries and finding none, called for assistance. After watching him experience difficulty keeping his balance, it was immediately decided that he need to be rushed to the vet's. The staff brought Frost to the van and speeded to the vet in Albuquerque. His condition quickly deteriorated, and an hour away from the vet's office, he passed away. A necropsy later reported that he died from intussusception - a collapasing of the small intestine.

Profile
Bio: Frost was an Arctic wolf mixed with a little bit of Timber wolf. Frost had three other littermates living at the Sanctuary: Flurry, Teton, and Shasta. One of his littermates, Trinity, passed away when he was 1 1/2 years old. Both of his parents passed away - his mother, Sierra, when Frost was four months old, and his father, Yukon, a little over two years later. Frost also had an older brother, Axel, and six other older siblings Alice, Powder, Sabine, Sugar, Storm, and Thunder living at the Sanctuary as well.
Personality: Frost's personality kept changing as he grew older. When little, he was very affectionate and brave around new people; when slightly older, he developed a dominant streak and began to harass volunteers and caretakers. Eventually, his temperament evened out, and he generally was a sweet guy. He still had a mischievous side and liked to push the boundaries with his caretaker.
Likes: Cherry slush puppies, ripping volunteers' jackets, and playing with Cheyenne.
Dislikes: Getting his food last, people he doesn't know or trust, and being crowded.
Fun Fact: When Frost and Flurry first moved into the animal care office when they were itty-bitty, they were given tentative names. We had heard before that Leyton, our director, absolutely despises when people name animals after themselves. It became obvious what one of the pups had to be called...Leyton Jr. Leyton wasn't too happy, but the name stuck, and eventually, even Leyton was calling over Leyton Jr. for attention. It wasn't until later that Leyton Jr. was changed to Frost.
