Ghengis Khan

History

Ghengis Khan, along with brothers Chaka Zulu, Taza, and Zeus, and sisters Selena, Shakti, and Lycea, was born at Wild Spirit by mother, Nashoba, and father, Ammon Ra. Nashoba passed away shortly after birth due to gastric torsion. Ghengis and his littermates were raised by both humans and wolves. When he first moved outside, Ghengis lived with Zeus and Shakti, as well as his aunt and uncle, Natasha and Nookta. When Zeus began to mature, the others started to pick on Ghengis and he had to be removed and put into another pen.

Rest in Peace

Ghengis Khan had shown signs of slowing down in the last few years of his life. Although he would still fence-fight with neighbors or play chase with Artemesia, he didn't seem as active as he used to be. After a particularly harsh snow storm struck the Sanctuary, one of our volunteers performed morning rounds and could not find Ghengis. When she took a closer inspection, it was found that he had passed away peacefully overnight.

Profile

Bio: Ghengis was a Timber wolf. He had six siblings: Chaka Zulu, Lycea, Selena, Shakti, Taza, and Zeus. All of his siblings have passed away.
Personality: Ghengis was a very self-assured, dominant animal who would not only refuse to stand down from a fight, but would also start them when he felt frisky. When he grew older, he began to mellow quite a bit. Still, Ghengis constantly picked fights with next-door neighbor, Nikki. Although he would never admit it, Ghengis loved Artemesia dearly, and when she begged with him to play, he was more than happy to oblige.
Likes: Stuffed animals, Artemesia, and women.
Dislikes: His caretaker picking up bones in his enclosure, people trying to interact with Artemesia, and bubbles.
Fun Fact: Yes, you read correctly - Ghengis Khan was afraid of bubbles. When volunteers were trying to come up with new enrichment activities, they thought up the idea of getting a bubble-blowing machine. Before investing the money, the volunteers walked around blowing soap bubbles into the enclosures. Some of the animals were uninterested, others had fun chasing the bubbles, but poor Ghengis became terrified. It was clear that we would never try that enrichment with him again.
