Skii

History

Skii spent the majority of his life living in Arizona, outside of Phoenix. Unfortunately, his owner had to leave him in the care of a relative for four years. At the time he left, seven wolves and wolf-dogs were at the Arizona residence. Sadly, the irresponsible caretaker allowed the animals to become anti-social, the house to be foreclosed upon, and four of the wolf-dogs to escape before being hit by cars. When the original owner returned, he attempted to re-purchase the house and heal his relationship with Skii and his companions, Choctaw and Kamotz, but his efforts were to no avail. He called Wild Spirit, and since several older ladies were available for roommates, we decided to pick them up in November of 2009.

Rest in Peace
April 30, 2000 - April 9, 2010

Skii was an animal who passed away unexpectedly. Sometime between morning chores and guard duty, he passed away, to the shock of the staff and volunteers. His death was so startling, we brought him in for a necropsy. The results showed that he died from gastric torsion, a disorder that can often be fatal in an extremely short amount of time. Possibly, after eating his meal, Skii ran around or played with Angel, causing his stomach to flip and his eventual death.

Profile

Bio: Skii was a wolf, possibly a Timber/Arctic mix.
Personality: Skii was the shyest out of his new trio, but was starting to learn that the volunteers were not the scary creatures he imagined them to be. He usually watched from a distance while Angel and Choctaw investigated new objects or people. He had the potential to really warm towards certain people, and had begun taking food from a caretaker's hand. Skii felt it was his duty to keep Angel in line, and every now and then, would engage her in a quick dominance ritual. She was too busy swooning at him to care.
Likes: Picking on Angel, playing with Choctaw, and arguing with Nakota.
Dislikes: Too many volunteers around his enclosure.
