History
Wapahnee was found roaming the streets of Seal Beach, California, during the summer of 1999. Luckily, the good people of Seal Beach Animal Care Center captured her before she could get hurt. The shelter had a no-kill policy and they needed the space Wapahnee was using. They contacted us and we agreed to take her and try her out with Amadeus and Shauntehey. One of our former board members brought Wapahnee to us in the winter of 2000.

Rest in Peace
1996 - June, 2010
Wapahnee remained active and spunky until the day she passed away. Although she had trouble with her hind legs, she still managed to enjoy the sunny days by sunbathing in her enclosure. When one of the staff members performed guard duty, it was discovered that she had passed away sometime in the evening. Luckily, it seemed that she went very peacefully with little complications.

Profile
Bio: Wapahnee was a low-content wolf-dog, possibly a pure dog.
Personality: Wapahnee was a mellow, playful, happy critter who enjoyed play and attention. In her youth, she loved rough-housing, tearing at the clothing of volunteers, and biting cheerfully at arms and legs. While she still enjoyed these activities as she grew older, she is definitely beginning to show her age. Wapahnee also enjoys sun-bathing, and in general, seems to be quite content.
Likes: Going for walks, chicken leg quarters as a treat, and sun-bathing.
Dislikes: Shauney picking on her too much, Amadeus hogging all the attention, and too much kibble in her meal.
Fun Fact: All of our volunteers are extremely careful in following animal protocol, but one morning, somebody underestimated Wapahnee. While they were walking into the enclosure, they didn't have a good enough handle on the gate and Wapahnee pushed her way through! The volunteers looked on in disbelief at the freed Wapahnee before grabbing a leash and collar from a nearby enclosure. They strolled over, placed the collar over her head, and walked Wapahnee back to the enclosure!
