Our Staff

As a non-profit organization, we depend on the few, yet dedicated, people to help us make Wild Spirit thrive and run as smoothly as possible. Whether locked away in the office working in administration, working diligently in maintenance, inside the wolf kitchen performing animal care, or at a school for outreach, our devoted personnel truly make the difference.

Our Director

Leyton Cougar took over as Executive Director of Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in 2003 and has been passionately devoting himself to our cause ever since. To read more about Leyton Cougar, please click here.

Our Staff

Georgia Cougar
Georiga Cougar is the wife of our director, Leyton. This life-long animal-freak first came for a tour of WSWS in 1998 and has been hooked ever since. Georgia met Leyton several months later during a return visit to WSWS, and became Bride of Wolfman in 2001. Since that time, she has been juggling motherhood with working in various areas of development, marketing and administration at the Sanctuary. Georgia creates our quarterly newsletter, The Howling Reporter, as well as brochures, advertisements, merchandise, membership package items and all of the graphics you see on our website among other things. She is also responsible for donations data entry and managing our membership base, as well as a countless list of other tasks.

Angel Bennet
Like many volunteers over the past few years, Angel Bennet came to WSWS in May 2005 performing a cooperative work team for Antioch College in Ohio. We quickly discovered that Angel was a rare breed of animal freak. She was smart, funny, and had a great report with our wolf population. After her work term ended Angel returned to Antioch College. We (the wolves, Leyton and Georgia) all cried and lamented over the fact that we lost one of our best volunteers ever! The howl of the wolf or rather the absence of the howl of the wolf drove Angel near madness and within a month she had decided to return to Wild Spirit. We are eternally grateful for Angel's return for her spirit and dedication to our cause is rock solid. We hope to keep her forever! (Truth is...we won't let her leave. She has too much work to do.) Her title? Just-About-Everything Administrator.

Our Webmistress

Allison Bailey came to WSWS as a volunteer in June, 2006, two days after graduating from Hebron High School. Since that time, she has been diligently working on our website and lending her services to animal care and other administrative tasks as well. As one of our youngest volunteers, she has constantly surprised us with her web-engineering expertise. For questions or comments about the website, feel free to contact her at webmistress@wildspiritwolfsanctuary.org

Our Volunteers

Wild Spirit is almost completely run by our tireless and dedicated volunteers. These wonderful individuals come from all over country, sometimes other parts of the world to dedicate their services in maintaining the Sanctuary, caring for the animals, and assisting in the growth and development of the organization. Volunteers dedicate various amounts of time, and are constantly changing, but always an essential part of our organization.
