Please take the time to browse through our photo galleries to see our animals enjoying various enrichment activities or just enjoying their days at Wild Spirit. All of our photographs were taken by staff or volunteers at the Sanctuary.
Photos of the wolves and wolf-dogs receiving their spring enrichment on May 13, 2012, with additional photos being taken the following week. Each animal received a wicker basket filled with goodies. The baskets contained a bunny-shaped meat loaf (called a loaf bunny), a dyed egg, and a cow kidney donated by one of our members. Each basket was then covered with straw.

Photos of the wolves and wolf-dogs receiving their winter enrichment on January 31, 2012. Each animal received a wrapped gift that was sprayed with elk urine. In each present, the wolves and wolf-dogs could find a meaty bone and various toys (such as a Kong, Boomer Ball, or rope toy) hidden amongst the straw.

Photos of the wolves and wolf-dogs receiving their autumn enrichment on October 22, 2011 (WSWS Howl-o-Ween), while other animals were given theirs a few days later. Each animal received a pumpkin stuffed with various meat goodies, including wolf loaf, kidney, heart, and liver of a cow. The enrichment was held during our Howl-o-Ween event for guests to enjoy as well.

Photos of the wolves and wolf-dogs receiving their summer enrichment on August 6th, 2011 (WSWS Open House). Each animal received one of three items: a frozen blood jell-o pupsicle, a watermelon filled with meat treats and peanut butter, or a piņata stuffed with meat and other goodies. The enrichment was held during our Open House event for guests to enjoy as well.

Photos of the wolves and wolf-dogs receiving their spring enrichment on May 8th, 2011 (Mother's Day). Each animal received a wicker basket that contained a dyed hard-boiled egg, a cow kidney, a squeaky stuffed toy, and a bunny-shaped meat loaf. Each basket was also filled with hay to encourage exploration within the basket.

Photos of the wolves and wolf-dogs receiving their winter enrichment on January 6th, 2011. Each animal received a wrapped gift filled with various goodies, including meat and stuffed animals. This activity encourages exploration and effort to get to the food inside. All of the animals enjoyed ripping through the box to find their treats.

Photos of most of the animals receiving their pumpkin on October 23rd, 2010 during our Howl-o-Ween party, while others received theirs a few days later. Each animal was given its own pumpkin, hollowed out, and stuffed with various goodies. The various treats included wolf loaf, kidneys, heart, and turkey necks. The pumpkins had lids, but most animals just chewed through the shell.

Photos of our animals receiving various summer enrichment items on August 7th, 2010. The various enrichments included piņatas filled with meat goodies, pupsicles made of blood jello and suspended treats, drilled coconuts stuffed with chicken and beef, watermelons carved and filled with meat and peanut butter, and cardboard tubes containing toys and smeared with deer urine.

Photos of our animals receiving their bunny basket on May 9th, 2010. Each animal received a wicker basket stuffed with hay and various meat treats, a wolf loaf shaped like a bunny with vitamin eyes, and topped off with a dyed hard-boiled egg. Each basket was then spritzed with synthetic elk urine to get them curious in their treats. The animals loved their baskets, and many of wolves destroyed them after they were done with the goodies.

Photos of our animals enjoying their Present enrichment on January 23, 2010. Each gift was filled with hay, meat, and various toys, including boomer balls, stuffed animals, squeaky toys, and rope toys. Many of the gifts were also sprayed with synthetic elk urine to encourage exploration. This is the second year we have performed Present Toss, and it seems to be a huge success with the animals.
