During the first years Raven lived at our Sanctuary, the view outside his enclosure was a lovely, large stock pond. It was surrounded by native plants and became loud and busy with desert toads in the summer. As the years went by, the pond gradually shrank and silted in. Unfortunately, a side of the pond gave way one day, and drained out, much to the disappointment of a local flooded neighbor. When we were mulling over ways to remember our incomparable Raven, we thought about restoring the pond, but making it better than it was, and giving it his name.

Naturally, we'll need loads of help. As with most things, there are many steps involved, some of which we aren't even sure of at this stage. The pond will have to be repaired and restructured. We want to ensure that local plants are re-introduced and plenty of seating is available so that our human guests can enjoy it when they visit.

Leyton asked Allison to create the below image in Photoshop of what our memorial pond could look like in the future. With your help, we can make this vision become a reality!

We know there are grants out there for this sort of undertaking. Perhaps this is your area of expertise, or you know a certain landscaper who would take great pleasure in restoring a beautiful water feature surrounded by howling wolves.
