If you have ever come out to the Sanctuary during the rainy or snow season, you probably know how horrendous our tour path is. The path we use to navigate the enclosures and escort guests transforms into a quagmire, with guests and volunteers sinking up to their ankle! Our major goal for 2011 is to repair our tour path and make it handicapped accessible. Not only would it help tour guests navigate the Sanctuary, but would assist volunteers responding to an animal emergency. The plan is to use railroad ties and pressure treated 2x8x10's to create a corral, where we will pour crusher fine and cement to create a flat, raised tour path.

It doesn't stop there. We also plan on creating new barrier fences between the animal enclosures and guests. These new barriers will allow us to offer self-guided tours for guests who want to view the animals at a more leisurely pace without the intimidation of a group. The new barrier fences will be created using horse fence and pressure treated lumber.

The cost of this task is monumental. It will cost $10,000 to repair the tour path adjacent to the front line of enclosures. It will cost $24,224 to fix the tour path up to Cheyenne and Argo's enclosure. To finish up the rest of the tour path will be $15,776. That is a grand total of $50,000 to renovate the entire tour path.
