The maintenance department is what keeps our sanctuary running smoothly and is responsible for the physical development of the facilities. Volunteers working in maintenance learn basic skills such as cutting wood, painting walls and various landscaping techniques to more complex skills such as proper enclosure building, chain-sawing and the creation of small buildings.

The upkeep and building of enclosures is one of the most vital jobs for maintenance. Volunteers will learn how to properly build enclosures so to ensure the safety and security of the animals at the sanctuary, as well as basic repairs. Gate construction will also be trained, as well as how to work with concrete to set posts. Volunteers will also assist in setting ground wire and top wire.

Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary is always under construction, and we are continually creating new buildings and structures. Volunteers will help repair volunteer houses, as well as fixing problems in the volunteer kitchen. If a new building is to be constructed, volunteers will assit in setting up walls, tiling roofs, placing electrical outlets and more.

Landscaping is a large part of keeping the sanctuary looking pleasant and practical. Such tasks as mowing, weeding, planting, and digging are all performed by volunteers. Work is also always being done on our campground, which will require the assistance of the volunteers.

There is always something to be done in maintenance, and will be assigned at the proper time. Volunteers can help repair ranch vechicles, as well as fixing office technology. Garbage needs to be collected and taken to the nearby landfill, and the removal of dead trees is also practiced to maintain safety. Pathways are, on occasion, re-graveled and maintained to ensure pleasant tours as well as practicality. Volunteers will ensure that the wolf kitchen is working properly, and will fix any problems that arise.
