Most of the time, an animal from the sanctuary is brought along to the outreach event. Volunteers will help care for that animal, making sure it is comfortable and not too stressed. Volunteers might be asked to fetch certain supplies for the outreach animal: water bowl, harness, enclosure, etc. Since the animal is in a different surrounding, observation of both the animal and the public is expected.

A portable booth is usually brought to an event where we can sell merchandise and distribute information. Volunteers assist in setting-up and tearing-down the booth in a timely fashion, as well as basic management of the booth. Several different pieces of merchandise need to be put up and organized, as well as pamplets or other educational material.

Both through the selling of merchandise and donations do we make most of our money at outreach and the sanctuary. Volunteers will take time selling and maintaining the merchandise stall, making sure everything is orderly and secure. Volunteers will learn basic marketing and advertising, and will be taught sales strategies to help sell merchandise.

Education is vital during an outreach event as we teach the public about the true nature of wolves. Volunteers in outreach become spokespeople for the sanctuary. They are taught to guide educational tours and answer questions the public might ask. When visiting schools or other organizations, volunteers will help in keeping the situation smooth and under control. Volunteers will also aid in the creation of educational material that the public can pick-up and take home.
