Double Strength Joint Discovery
We give Joint Discovery to all of our older animals who have problems with their hips and other joints. However, Joint Discovery would be better as a preventive against these future problems. When we grind meat, we mean business! We feed over fifty hungry wolve daily, and most of their food we make on sight. A meat grinder would help cut down on food costs for we could process our own meat. We are looking specifically for the Meat Chopper, 3 H.P., Heavy Duty, Fixed Feed Pan processer from Hobart.
When working with raw meat, cross-contamination is always a concern. In animal care, we go through gloves faster than anything else. Because some of our volunteers are allergic to latex and powder, we hope to have a small amount of powder-free vinyl gloves. Currently, we are in desperate need of small, medium, and large sizes; we have plenty of X-large.

Our animal care division, as well as the campground and gift shop, are in need of a safe, secure, and dry storage space. A Tuff Shed looks like the most accessible and practical storage solution for us. For ease of donation, you can purchase online, over the phone, or in person, and Tuff Shed can deliver it right to where we need it! We are hoping for the Tuff Shed Garden Series - Garden Ranch of the size 10' x 12'.
With all of the raw meat we handle in the wolf kithen, a set of strong, sturdy knives is a must. The more diverse the set of knives, the better. We will need tough knives that will be able to cut through all sorts of meat and bone. The Mundial 5100 Series seems to be a good choice for us.
During the winter months when our ground is covered in snow (or during the rainy season when it's muddy), it is very easy for us to lose something. Keys, USDA tags, screws and bolts; each require hours of searching in unfavorable conditions. With a metal detector, we're hoping these searches will become unnecessary. We don't need anything fancy, just something to lend us a helping hand, like the Fast Tracker.
Eight years ago or so, two people graciously donated two 1980's Ford trucks to the Sanctuary. Sadly, they are all tuckered out and we are in need of some new ones. Sturdy, reliable trucks are vital to smooth operations within the sanctuary. We would greatly appreciate a Ford F250 4x4 crew cab long bed pick-up truck that is gasoline or diesel.
All around the sanctuary we need to put up privacy fencing. Along with having fences around the volunteer housing, privacy fence provides a pleasing look around the sanctuary. This type of fence is found at most Lowe's, Home Depot, and Ace Hardware stores. It is made of rough cut 3/4 x 5 1/4 x 6' cedar and is usally six to eight feet long panels. We would also gladly accept just the boards alone. We can use as many panels as one can imagine; we have thousands of running feet to cover.
Wild Spirit has hauling jobs several times a month, and we need a good, sturdy and road-worthy flatbed trailer for around the sanctuary and to haul things to and from the city. Northern Trailer Sales is a New Mexico company that is close enough to us that we could pick up a trailer if somone could help us purchase it.
Not a day goes by without us wishing there was a backhoe on hand. We always have earth-moving projects that get put on hold due to a tractor shortage at the sanctuary. You could save the day if you could help us get a front loader/backhoe like the Case 580M Series 2 or the 2005 Caterpillar 446D.
We have plans to redo our barriers in front of our enclosures. The barriers prevent tour guests from leaning over and petting the wolves. To reconstruct our barriers, we are going to need 164 pieces of 2 x 6 x 12' dimensional lumber. We would appreciate either the lumber itself, or gift cards to Lowe's, Home Depot, or Ace Hardware to purchase the lumber.

We plan in the near future to redo our barriers in front of enclosures and to create new picnic tables for our courtyard and campground. All of this woodwork is going to require a lot of screws. We need a 25 lbs box of 3" deck screws for all our carpentry work.
Our sanctuary is surrounded by forest, so fire is always a threat throughout the year. One of the best ways to protect our animals from the potential dangers of fire is to keep our forest clean and clear of debris. The best way to deal with tree trimming that can provide us different uses is to chip and shred all debris. This will provide mulch for our forest floor, plants, and shrubbery as well as provide comfortable walkways throughout the sanctuary. The BC600XL Brush Chipper is a great option for us.
As we continue to work on our garden, we are realizing how few tools we actually have! Right now, we could use the ultimate basics in gardening tools: a trowel, dandelion weeder, cultivator, etc. Since gardening is usually a group project, we could use several of the same tools.
With spring and summer here, we are starting plans to spruce up our courtyard and patio. Instead of listing all of the supplies we would need, we are asking for gift certificates from Santa Fe Greenhouses/High Country Gardens. With these certificates, we will be able to buy everything we need, from seeds, plants, tools, soil, and more. You can order them online at the url near the bottom. Part of our goals at WSWS is to become as self-sufficient as possible. One way for us to accomplish this task is to be "off grid" and reduce energy costs. We would like to start by having all our staff and volunteer housing solar electric. There are many great resources on the Web for solar panels.
